Great Reflection

Marians, I would like to share to you one of the beautiful reflection from you classmate Arkanni Raneses. CONGRATULATIONS!

REFLECTION:

The reason I chose San Agustin Church is because the first time I saw it, I can see and feel the beauty/balance, peace, solidity and most of all the music (aside from the obvious) that surrounds this picture.

How does line and shapes give life to the subject?

Lines denotes movements, emotions and moods. Horizontal lines expresses calm and serene, while vertical lines represents strength and resolution. Diagonal lines means excitement and dynamics. Curve lines emits melody, constant change and gracefulness. (all these lines are visible in this picture.)

There is also rhythm; the repeated lines, shapes and colors. And these repetition of patterns give unity or order to a composition. Different ways of rhythm are also shown in this picture like the repetition, alteration, sequence and radial.

All in all I can say that, San Agustin Church is a perfect piece of music and arts. This is how the lines and shapes present life to the subject. It has a perfect harmony.

Now i want you to discover more function of lines and shapes through picture... Try to visit my blogsite on YLROs EYE - just click on my blog directory... you will see different pictures in different collection and in different subject.... i want you to grab one picture and make a reflection on it. How does line and shape give life to the subject. Place it in a short bond paper. Submit on July 6, 2009 or send it through my email at sinag23@gmail.com Good luck ! I will be missing you all!

ART IS ESSENTIAL TO THE GROWTH OF CHILDREN

ART IS ESSENTIAL TO THE GROWTH OF CHILDREN

An Art Educated child is four times more likely to be literate and to perform better in school compared to one who isn’t and is more likely to become a better citizen. (John Silva – Senior Consultant of the National Museum of the Philippines)

Art is a Childs way of processing what they sees with their eyes and translate into a visual symbol for himself and for others to see. Every time a child creates art, they portray their feelings, imagination, ideas for what he draws is a concrete configuration of his emotion.

The artshopers of St. Mary’s Academy – Pasay City for this summer are excellent in the way they apply the basic skills learned. They seem committed to what they are doing and their dedication comes across in lovely mission of visual arts… unique for their composition, which is seen in every strokes of line to the sweetest and coolest blending of colors that makes their work excellent.

The participation of your children to various art activities and exposure is a good starting point for them to explore and discover arts which could be fun and enjoyable past time that could further develop their creative instinct and emotional intelligence.

In 2007, a research was conducted by Ellen Winner of Harvard Graduate School found out that… Children who study the arts seriously are taught to see better, to envision, to persist, to be playful and learn from mistakes, to make critical judgments and justify such judgment.

It is art that makes life, which makes important. I know of no substitute for the force and beauty of its power.

From Educating for the Workplace through the ARTS

From Educating for the Workplace through the ARTS
The Getty-Education Institute for the Arts

THE NEW ARTS EDUCATION

Over The past decade, a new way of thinking about arts education has taken hold, which differs significantly from the limited activity that most adults remember from their own schooling. Based on substantive and rigorous content, the new arts education develops the very capacities that business leaders, educators, and parents want the schools to provide our children: creative problem-solving, analytical thinking, collaborative skills, and judgment.

In the new arts education, child ren learn to convey ideas, feelings, and emotions by creating their own images and performing dance, music, and drama. They learn to decode and understand the historical and cultural messages wrapped up in works of art. They also learn to analyze, critique, and draw reasoned conclusions from what they see and hear’ i.e., to reflect on the meaning of their perceptions and experiences. The demonstrated achievements of the new arts education have brought it recognition in areas that are today defining education for both students and teachers.
